I've been posting a lot of tools that I've been building, the target for these tools are independent researchers, Small/Medium admins, and those who don't have the resources/needs of a full large enterprise. Here is a breakdown of what they are and what they do

Today was weird. I just want to say thank you to everyone for the support. It means a lot to me. And in particular, thank you to @_winter_wonders. Truly a great friend to have, in addition to being an amazing cybersecurity person.

@kmcnam1 @_winter_wonders FWIW, I've always found @ZackKorman to be an amiable guy and pretty easy to get along with and excited to share his work with others. Not sure what happened here, frankly reading this chain it sounds like he's as confused as the rest of us are.

@_winter_wonders I like both you and Zack. You're both the bees' knees. If that makes me look stupid to some people, c'est la vie. You both have been awesome, knowledgeable, and I've learned some things from both of you :)

@AmericanAir its truly fascinating. We had one aborted take off. The replacement plane is broken too. There's apologies and announcements for no less than 5 flights down for maintenance in earshot of CLT E14. Is there any chance you guys might start actually maintaining these things?

@ZackKorman @GergelyOrosz Actually yes! There's a lot of work being done in this space right now (granted I might be biased since it's my area of research)

One thing that I no longer hear much talk about: Whether AI would help with formal verification go mainstream. Formally verifying programs is pretty hard and is a niche skillset! Doesn't seem like AI has made a difference in that field. Worth asking: why?

I honestly can't think of an air defence system that has been humilated over and over again more than the Pantsir. Not even just inUkraine, it was exposed repeatedly in Libya and Syria.

@QuinnyPig @OpenAI They haven't been running around demanding everything be regulated but them. Also their employees don't blatantly lie and gaslight

I'm really confused by @OpenAI's strategy for GPT-5.6. I can't find the date the pricing jumps by 50%, the date it leaves "being included in subscriptions" is likewise missing, and what their employees say here aligns with what the documentation and blog posts say.

it's quite fascinating how there are major strands within both the russian and american armed forces (particularly the RVSN & USAF) that are basically christian death cults that revolve around nuclear armageddon, & the second coming. someone should do a dissertation on this

It is a uniquely American trait to want to beat the best its opponent has to offer. When we play France in the semis we want to beat mbappe not France without mbappe. Feeling cheated because VAR was used incorrectly and then having it corrected is a uniquely euro trait.
Alfie | HITC Sevens@HITCSevens

This makes a mockery of the whole tournament. If the USMNT win, Belgium will have every right to feel cheated, meanwhile the USA’s victory - by their best ever generation of players - will forever be tainted by accusations of favouritism and corruption. It’s bad for everyone.

@halvarflake I think it's tagging something in the verified cyber professional program, because yeah I'm seeing a bunch of my math downgraded to Opus 4.8, for my own good of course.

I'm suspecting that the Fable "badness" classifier takes into account "who you are" somehow. For me, all sorts of benign discrete math questions are getting "downgraded to Opus". The only way this is sensible is if the classifier somehow attaches "crypto/cyber" to everything I ...

Here's the thing, right now the big players are so entrenched that it's a struggle to have a free market discussion about this. I would rather force them to the table against an extreme position and moderate than giving up that ground in the opening. Microsoft ascended to its position via abusive relationships and outright borderline criminal action. It's why the settlement with the DOJ existed. So we've all agreed to a defacto monopoly on desktop computers, this was against our will. Now all the major tech players are taking the position of "privacy is a luxury you can't have, because we need this for "Security"" Which is horseshit at the best of times, especially egregious when these players do very little to actually protect people.

I'm not going to say that there's not a balance to be struck, but I do also think some people out here have such extreme positions on privacy that the only way legal investigations could be performed would be via an informant.
