On this day in 1776, Rhode Island renounced allegiance to Great Britain It was the first colony in North America to do so. Ironically, it was the last of the 13 colonies to ratify the Constitution.

Charlie Kirk has been assassinated. For years, Kirk warned that rising campus antisemitism was more than “just speech.” New data shows he was right: 1 in 3 Stanford students now say violence is justified to silence views they oppose. Radical groups like Unity of Fields are training students in violent tactics, distributing sabotage manuals, and openly glorifying terrorism, all while being welcomed onto campuses. Administrators look the other way, leaving Jewish students and faculty vulnerable. Kirk’s murder is the tragic endpoint of this failure. Universities must act now: - Ban extremist groups - Enforce the law against true threats - Protect Jewish students and faculty The line between rhetoric and violence has been crossed.
