Let’s be crystal clear about something: Private pay therapists aren’t unwilling to take insurance Insurance companies are unwilling to pay the cost of therapy

I want to host an in-person conference for therapists on the business of private practice. There would be sessions on legal, accounting, and marketing. Is that something you would be interested in?

Private Practice Tip of the Day: Set aside time in your calendar each month to get out and market your practice. Even just a few meetings with other therapists can grow your practice. However, you have to make the time to do it. #TherapistTwitter

Therapists, remember to send a thank you note for every referral you receive. A handwritten thank you card is one of my favorite business tools for private practice.

I read @BecomingaThera's newsletter today about financial self-advocacy (subscribe, y'all!). Clearly, some therapists feel awkward about money talk, and there's a reason for that. Not being paid in practicum/internship conditions us to minimize the financial worth of our work.
