By mid-October, tropical development usually does not happen from waves/low pressure moving across the open Atlantic. Dry air/shear/troughs usually add up to either prevent organization or to help deflect storms north and out to sea. Looks like the one we are monitoring in the open Atlantic will move west/west-northwest for several day, then upper level winds should become chaotic ahead of a trough. If something does develop, an eventual turn north long before it reaches the Gulf/Florida seems likely. As always, we will watch to see if the upper pattern changes down the road.
