I'm just over the border in Devon for a couple of days this week, helping the kids at Kenton Primary to create artwork based on their local surroundings. The Year 6 kids built this view of Powderham Castle in just over an hour. 👍 darrellwakelam.com @MrEFinch

Day 3 at Great Potheridge House. Today we spent the day onsite. The activities were: Jacob’s Ladder, abseiling and crate stack. All of C4 took part - some chose to go higher than others but everyone worked well as a team, challenged themselves and faced their fears!

Day 2 at Potheridge House. Today we went Gorge Scrambling at Dewerstone on Dartmoor. Despite the chilly water our resilient children have embraced the elements and displayed incredible courage while tackling the rapids. As you can see by all the smiley faces, fun was had by all!

Day 1 at Great Potheridge house. We all had a great first day on the lake - kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and canoeing. All of the children joined in. Last night we did a night walk and the children were exhilarated and terrified but they did all enjoy it.

Class 3 enjoyed a brilliant trip to Kents Cavern last week. We had a fascinating tour of the underground caves and were able to handle neanderthal skulls and flint hand axes as well as using our detective skills in the woodland trail.

Class 3 have started preparations for their new STEM Primary Engineer Programme! We have been practicing cutting up wooden strips with a bench hook and modelling saw. It was much trickier than we thought, but everyone persevered and safely cut a piece of wood accurately!

We are so proud of our wonderful writers in Class 2! Each and everyone of them have been selected to have their writing published in a real book 📕 All your hard work this year has paid off and now you are officially mini authors!! Well Done Everyone 👏

Class 4 spent a fantastic day at Dawlish Warren nature reserve and beach on Tuesday where we learnt all about coastal processes. After lunch we had time on the beach to play in the sea before enjoying an ice cream in the sunshine. What a brilliant day!

Class 3's trip to the misty moors of Dartmoor gave us the perfect inspiration for our Dartmoor legends writing! Despite the downpours, children showed great resilience and were full of laughs and enthusiasm about the animals that greeted us along the way! Well done everyone!

Last week our pupils performed at the @IvyEduTrust music concert! With help from Sonopera's Pat and Elfyn, the children wrote their own song about Kenn. All of the children did a fantastic job, singing their hearts out and performing the actions they came up with. Well done!

We have been enjoying our Art after school club! Our children enjoyed making Frida Kahlo portraits with 3D flowers, pastels and pencils. They were encouraged to draw what they saw & create colour headpieces. As you can see, we have some very artistic children at our school!

Yesterday, Class 4 did some WW2 baking with Mrs Coles. They made carrot cookies using: margarine, self raising flour, carrots, sugar and vanilla flavouring. They tasted delicious and all the children had a great morning baking!

We had the BEST time at London's O2 Arena performing with The Young Voices. The children sang to a packed stadium, with over 20,000 people watching. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing, with a range of pop stars joining in, a spectacular light show!

Update: Young Voices ETA now 03.00 due to a lot of road closures! Please feel free to bring your child into school at 1pm, due to such a late night. Thank you for your continued support.

The children in Class 4 have been learning about light and the ‘law of reflection’ this week using periscopes! Class 4 shared their periscopes with the younger members of the school and they tried very hard to explain to Class 1 (simply) how they worked!

Thank you @MelJStride for visiting us last week as part of UK Parliament Week! He spoke to the children about how parliament works, the democratic process and even flying cars!
