VHF conditions were expected to be good again this morning so I rigged up an Elk Antenna attachment for my Max Gain portable mast. Just finished working 10 stations on 2m SSB from @POTAspots US-3711. Fun challenge. Learned a lot. 73!

@Kd9Njj Oh, no!! I’ve only gotten my car washed a few times since I installed my first mobile mount in the fall. I’m sure I’ll forget at some point.

Forgetting to remove my antenna before entering the car wash may not help with ⁦@Kennerknecht⁩ ‘s 146.52 challenge….

Why not?! Today I RF’ed around and made a loaded 60m vertical with the new Hydra from @ham_coffee and an extra WRC Sporty 40. It’s about 33 feet of speaker wire. #LeaveNoBandBehind #HamRadio

I built a tri-band vertical antenna using my snazzy links. 15M, 17M & 20M. 3 bands totally resonant with tuned elevated linked radials. It's a POTA PERformer ripoff. Great option if you don't have a whip 😎

@Kennerknecht No, but good reminder, I need to start. I recently ran into W3GBK as he was finishing an activation and I was just starting. He offered me a 2 meter Park to Park and I didn’t have an HT with me. Duh! I’ll keep it in the truck from now on!

@mwfoutch1 Thanks! My buddy KD2YIO has a small boat he uses for some island POTAs. We've done a few together. I was thinking for operations like that. But you might be right about a simple and cheap dry bag from Walmart.

Here's a link. But I'm already thinking about additional cost and weight savings. The bag itself is pretty thick and heavy. It is cool though (agreed). But I'm thinking maybe a waterproof bag from Walmart in a regular backpack would be lighter and cheaper. To be continued ... expedition-units.com/products/8020-…
