This is such a difficult thing for dads and uncles of little girls. When my niece was very young, I used to peek my head in the door of the ladies restroom and shout, “I have my little niece with me (stating her age), is anyone in here? I’m bringing her in and covering my peripheral vision.” I’ve had women many times respond, “Bring her in, you’re both okay or something along those lines.” I loved taking my niece everywhere, but the restroom thing was always HIGH ANXIETY for me. And NOOO, I never considered taking her in the men’s restroom, or letting her go into the ladies restroom alone. I’m a very hyper-vigilant person when it comes to kids.

@alleria_eh Lots of people haven’t wanted to parent their kids for years. My gf was a principal for years and some of the stories she told me made me crazy. Parents will call their kids while they’re in class, complain their kid is failing but not show up to meetings. It’s awful

Parents: "we don't have time to monitor our kids online activities. The ban will guarantee our kids aren't online and exposed to danger!" Great... i hope you have time then to spend giving your kids attention, activities and knowing where they are all hours of the day once they are no longer able to be inside, online, gaming with friends. 80s/90s kids we were raised cellphone/internet free and we did a ton of shit we weren't supposed to. Kids need to be parented regardless of whether they have access online or not.

“My son got five days of out-of-school suspension for beating up the kid who has been tormenting and bullying him since middle school. 😔👊 As a parent, I know I’m supposed to be upset with him for resorting to violence or getting suspended, but I’m not. Not even a little bit. For years, the school has failed Drew. When this kid constantly threatened to beat Drew up, along with several of his friends, the school did nothing. When this kid followed Drew down the hall threatening him and making fun of him, and it was all captured on video, the school did nothing. 📹 When other kids told teachers and administrators that this kid was threatening Drew, the school did nothing. When this kid took to social media, voicemails, and texting threats, the school did nothing. 📱 When this kid threatened Drew over and over in every class they had together, the school did nothing. Not once has the school ever punished the kid who threatened and bullied Drew repeatedly. In middle school, Drew was afraid to walk down the halls because a swarm of this kid and his minions would make fun of and threaten him. 😞 He quit talking to adults about it because they never disciplined the bully, and it only made the situation worse. I sent the school a lengthy email at the beginning of the year begging them to do something because Drew refused to talk to adults at school anymore. He knew it would do him no good. Drew had four classes with this kid, and he would not leave Drew alone. Their solution? A “no contact” contract between him and his bully. Seriously? 🙄 I’m pretty sure I rolled my eyes. And, like Drew, I gave up trying to get the school to actually do something that would stop this kid from bullying him. So… When this kid threatened Drew on the bus, then moved on to making fun of his dad and threatening Jackson, his 11-year-old brother , Drew decided he was done relying on the school and the adults who were supposed to protect him. 🚌 He decided HE would do something. Three punches later, the bully screamed like a baby, his minion friends shut up, and this morning the bully wouldn’t even look at him. Problem solved.
