Another thing in regards to the Rays rotation: The fact that they’re bringing up Joe Boyle to start instead of Ian Seymour tells me they really value Seymour’s role in the pen. I’m not sure if they plan on using him strictly in a multi inning role, but I would be very interested in seeing him in some high leverage situations considering the current state of the pen. Mason Englert, Yoendrys Gomez and Cole Sulser can all throw multiple innings, so it’s not like they need Seymour in that role. I do think they want Gomez in a shortened role though, and Sulser would probably do better in that type of role too. We’ll see what happens to start the season, hopefully Uceta only misses a week or two.
