@Sassafrass_84 Easy to not care how gov spends money when none of it is yours. Everyone should pay something so they care more about how it is spent.

"The top 1% pay ~40% of all taxes. The bottom half pay 3%. I don’t think it should be 3%. I think it should be zero." "We shouldn’t be asking this nurse in Queens who makes $75k to send money to Washington. They should be sending her an apology." Bold take from the Jeff Bezos. Should the bottom 50% pay zero federal income tax? I say end federal taxes period.

@CynicalPublius I was USAF officer with TS clearance. A big part of the classification was protecting sources and methods, not just the info itself.

I handled Top Secret information only a handful of times in my military career. Every time I did, I remember thinking to myself "Why is this classified? Everybody suspects this is true, it's just common sense..." But then I remembered that the reason the data was classified was so that no one in the know would or could ever confirm or deny whether "common sense" suspicions were actually true. THAT is the power of security classifications. My point is this: it does not matter whether or not anyone has a common sense suspicion that stores of precision munitions might be depleted. When Kelly officially verified that suspicion at the individual munition level, he created a grave breach of national security. Prosecute this traitor. Remember when some submariner went to the brig because he posted a picture from the inside of a sub? This is far worse. Prosecute.
Senator Mark Kelly@SenMarkKelly

We had this conversation in a public hearing a week ago and you said it would take “years” to replenish some of these stockpiles. That’s not classified, it’s a quote from you. This war is coming at a serious cost and you and the president still haven’t explained to the American people what the goal is.

@stoolpresidente One of my jobs in the USAF 30 yes ago was technical intel. It was clear there are a number of countries run by bad actors that perceive Americans being nice as weakness. They only respected strength.

I always laugh at yo-yo’s who don’t have the 1st clue what information the President had that forced this decision. Even politicians who despise him but were briefed on the situation seem to agree with this operation. I guess lotta podcasters know better. 😂. Gotta keep the lights on somehow. Borderline traitors if you ask me. Iran is a terror nation with a long history of some of the worst human rights atrocities in the world. Nobody disputes that fact. They hate Americans. They hate Israel. They hate all Jews. They hate the West. They would kill us all if given the chance. They just murdered tens of thousands of their own people. The rest of the Middle East is on our side. The Iranian people are on our side. It isn’t that complicated to support our Troops and our country this morning. We are on the right side here. The NFL continues to use replay to correct some calls but not to correct obvious missed calls. This creates a credibility problem. When replay is used to move the spot of a ball 6 inches or used to see if the QB’s knee touched the ground— but can’t be used to see if he was tripped or can’t be used to see if the clock is at :00 when players are pointing to the clock it creates issues. We either need to correct ALL OBVIOUS missed calls or we need to let the officials call the games on the field and live with it

I get the focus on Sliwa now but I feel the Democrat party in NY and Dem voters that couldn't be bothered to show up in a primary are the real reason for Mandamis position here. Voters may have been apathetic given the candidate selection but the choice of anyone but the communist was already there, and D primary voters failed to look out for NYC

Supposedly an unprecedented 2.2 million turnout with 60% above 45 years old. I am going to be an optimist and say @andrewcuomo is going to get the win. If he fails to win, it’s because @CurtisSliwa cares more about himself than NYC. Let’s never forget that. If Andrew wins, he is going to be a great mayor. Why? Because he will owe nothing to the Democratic Party and he will be working only for his legacy. He can therefore do whatever is right for NYC for the long term without worrying about the political consequences. @realDonaldTrump is going to want to work with Cuomo to Make NY Great Again, MNYGA. Say: ManyGA I think the President and Cuomo respect each other which increases the chances they will work well together. We will know supposedly by 9:30pm. Say a prayer.

A serious question about the pervasiveness of fear: In a typical economically and racially diverse, highly functional city in the US Midwest - say Indianapolis or Louisville - would you be afraid/very hesitant to take a train or bus?

I recall Republicans not liking Romney because he had MA health care system and other policies but they went with the "nice guy" and Dems turned him into a caricature. I think this convinced many that picking moderates was not via with Dems and independents. Completely opened path for DJT to the nomination and him running against 16 other candidates in the primary sealed the deal.

In my view a great irony here is Republicans did the same thing in the 2016 primary. Trump got a commanding lead in delegates by winning 30+ % in each early state. The GOP establishment that so wanted him to lose was full of candidates with egos unable to grasp how they were handing the nomination to Trump by staying in the race.

The NYC mayoral election is a slow-moving, soon-to-be-accelerating train wreck. With @andrewcuomo and @ericadamsfornyc both still in the race and apparently planning to stay in the race until the end, @ZohranKMamdani is a near certain winner. Mayor Adams or Cuomo can win the election, but not if it is a three- or four-way race. The only path to victory is for one of them to step aside and it needs to happen soon. If Adams and Cuomo truly care about our great city, they should sit down and work it out, and they need to do it now. Socialism will be the death knell for NYC. That will be both Andrew’s and Eric’s legacy if they put their self interest and egos above what is best for the city. NYC will look very kindly on the candidate that steps aside and helps the other win to save the city. That will be a very important part of their legacy. In the alternative, they will both be responsible for a socialist takeover of the city, the lives lost from the increase in crime, the economic destruction and unemployment, and the inspiration a Mamdani win will inspire for Socialist candidates around the country. This is a really important election for the future of the city and the country. On the path Eric, Andrew and we are on, we are handing NYC to Mamdani. Wake up New York City!
