🔥“The edgelord offers an alternative: You can feel powerful right now by adopting the right posture, saying the right shocking things, and joining the right pile-ons. Why spend decades becoming a man of substance when you can feel like one this afternoon by dunking on someone online?”
The Gospel Coalition@TGC

You’ll find him on podcasts and in pulpits, but everything he does is for social media. He’s the man who has confused being provocative with being profound, who mistakes the ability to offend for the courage to lead. He is the edgelord. thegospelcoalition.org/article/edgelo…

@mbird12 @MurrayJCampbell Maybe I’m naïve, but I cant imagine John Piper considering the trajectory of “his acolytes” or making a calculated subtweet to “his tribe.” I just don’t think he’s like most people.

@MurrayJCampbell I think the subtext is that a lot of Piper's former acolytes are not only Trump fans but are even volunteering as ICE agents. I wonder if Piper is attempting a course correction within his tribe.

John Piper quotes Scripture and America goes insane. People can't help filter God's word through their own political colon and spit it out the other end. Hard to know if they’re more mad at John Piper or with God for including Lev 19:34 as Scripture
John Piper@JohnPiper

“You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.” Leviticus 19:34 Christians know the miserable bondage we were all in.

No, the pro-life movement does not exist primarily because we empathize with the baby. We champion the right of babies to not be murdered because it is the right thing to do, regardless of whether we can feel what the baby feels. If human rights movements were motivated primarily by empathy, they would be extremely fickle and untrustworthy. You free slaves because owning image bearers is wrong, regardless of whether you can empathize with the pain of shackles You feed the hungry because helping those in need is right, regardless of whether or not you also feel their hunger pangs This is why Christian love is so radical and culture-shifting. It is not a love dependent upon your ability to relate to someone, or upon any of your feelings at all. It is a love fully motivated by the fact that Jesus loves us and that He calls us to love others, whether we can put ourselves in their shoes or not. Empathy *can* be helpful in guiding us to love, but it is not synonymous with love—or virtue or kindness. Empathy can also lead harmful, because feeling how deeply someone feels can blind us to objective reality and morality. That is what I call Toxic Empathy, and it is the power behind so many bad cultural, moral and political decisions in our country. That’s why Christians should opt for a truth-in-love approach rather than an empathy-led approach. This is not complicated, you are not stupid, @philvischer, and, for all the time you’ve put into talking about my book for the past year, you could’ve spared a couple hours to consult the source material. So, at this point, your constant mischaracterizations are just deceit.
Phil Vischer@philvischer

@ItsAnAmishThing @conservmillen And a massive pro-life movement because we empathize with the baby.

Another "who cares what actually happened, I'm trying to virtue twerk" post from a "spiritual leader." To be fair, Greear may have simply bought this post from Docent Research Group...

@SlowToWrite @griffingulledge @BethMooreLPM I bet it’s difficult for someone like her to keep track of all the people and policies she has to condemn, and the specific words she has to use, and to track their frequency, and manage their severity, and all according to all the separate standards thousands of people set her.

@griffingulledge @BethMooreLPM All I said, sir, is with all her complaints about Trump. Some of them are legitimate. I have never seen a single complaint from her about Joe Biden’s policies on abortion. That is a completely fair assessment, sir.

The #Colts are planning to bring potential Hall of Fame QB Philip Rivers into their facility Tuesday to work out to see if he may join their practice squad, per me & @MikeGarafolo. This is real. Daniel Jones’ season is over, Riley Leonard will start, but Rivers may be an option.
