@KentWascom Kent, I’m so sorry for your loss. A tragedy for America but for you personally, too.
Things are so fucked up in our country.
English

@BurialMagazine Thanks, man, that’s kind as hell of you to say
English

@KentWascom this post made me cry. you have honored her here.

Say her name #ReneeGood

Renee was one of my students years ago. I held her baby. She was kind and talented, a working class mom who put herself through school despite circumstances that would’ve crumpled the pathetic rich boy politicians who sadistically abetted her murder God damn them all

bronson keeps delivering the goods. the first 15 minutes of this is basically a silent film and it plays out with amazing economy. definitely closer to something like le samourai than you'd assume.

@Sean_J_Fitz Nothing quite like it at the time either!
That’s why we gotta chase that Hannah high I guess
English

@KentWascom I’d read it a long time ago but found it again recently, cause I’m so shot with something to make me want to write. Had no idea about Burroughs, go figure. But such a full character in that story it makes sense. I’ve been reading a lot pubbed today. Can’t find anything like it.
English

@Sean_J_Fitz You’re on that peak Barry Hannah
Always wondered what brought him to write a story about William S Burroughs (Coots) finding himself in a Rudyard Kipling’s “Mark of the Beast” scenario
English

@yui_antinomy When those flinty eyes catch a glint of humor it’s magnetic as hell.
Have you read Harry Crews’s essay about Bronson? If not lemme know, it’s wild
English

@yui_antinomy Yessssss. Dark Angel’s in the pantheon for sure. Right up there with Lana Wood’s Demon Rage
The dissolve is from Crash! (1976) which totally ruled. Beautifully made. I didn’t know Charles Band was dropping bangers so early.

@KentWascom For white elephant. Was in a big bag including a whole pineapple, to give it some weight. Got stolen once by a friend for the cigarettes, and his mom was not happy about that!

@WhatHoARat @ryanhasbadtaste 100% real and for whatever reason the ads were usually for my name brand

English

@ryanhasbadtaste I feel like they tried this with mass market paperbacks in the 70s and 80s. I remember colored cigarette ads in books. Unless this is a mandela effect.
English

don’t give them ideas
Reads with Ravi@readswithravi
Books are so cool because there are NO FUCKING ADS IN THEM.
English

@TrentBWrites If you haven’t pitched the Southern Review of Books, I’d give them a shot!

@thedadlitpod @JoelNedecky @SmashedEars Almost forgot, I’ve got a story about McCarthy and The Road that one of his pals told me in Santa Fe one time but I’ll save for the show.
Oh yeah, and I gotta remember to talk about Lauren Groff’s Arcadia and Masutsugo Ono’s At the Edge of the Woods 🧐
English

@thedadlitpod @JoelNedecky @SmashedEars Hell yeah. It didn’t land like this in my 20s, but now I think the last line of the book says a whole lot about parenthood and childhood, the things that can’t be put back or experienced again.
