I’d like to offer 3 other places besides Eugene that would absolutely have an average attendance much higher than 7,419 people Just because Nike/Oregon bankrolls USATF doesn’t mean we need to keep hosting big meets in a small city in the most remote corner of the country

Alonso@atxgoodguy

Since 2001, the average daily attendance for USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships in Eugene is 7,419 (including the 2022 COVID dip). Everywhere else? 7,410 Based on the data that USATF has, there’s no compelling reason to have USAs anywhere else but Eugene.

@silverhairedms I’m considering preventing certain women from competing in the women’s category as a ban. I found it noteworthy to mention that this policy prevents another group of women besides trans women from competing in the Olympics

@Kerrcybertruck But it's not a ban. TIMs can still take part in the men's category along with men with DSDs and TIFs in women's. It's a great celebratory outcome for those interested in fairness in sport, even if it's not a priority for you. Here's the actual policy. stillmed.olympics.com/media/Document…

While this bans all transgender women from competing, this is also a stricter ban for runners like Caster Semenya. She could compete under the 2023 IAAF rules if her testosterone levels were medically under 2.5 nmol/L, SRY testing is a blanket ban for anyone who doesn’t have CAIS

@tfoulkes13 @lovertoblame Yep CAIS is pretty much the only way someone with SRY would be able to compete. Anyone who would be intersex would have SRY, this essentially bans intersex people without CAIS from competing

@tfoulkes13 @lovertoblame I don’t like to speculate on others DNA but biologically Caster and Christine would very likely have SRY and still not be able to compete under these rules

@lovertoblame If the new rules leave Caster eligible WA and the IOC should have to pay her like 10 mil in lost potential earnings

@lovertoblame Yeah they are just ‘crutin sometimes, if you are white you are plausibly Mormon so it’s close enough If you look at their Strava the True Morms like Mantz and Young don’t train on Sundays but MulletChode does

@ThePapaLinks Just bringing up an applicable example of professional running sponsorships that I heard about pretty recently, but we’ll never know all the details about that contract or most others

@ThePapaLinks The thing I’m stuck on is UCAN saying they “made an effort to continue working with Emma under a new agreement, but Emma chose not to move forward…” We don’t know the terms or timeline of the agreement but I’m more inclined to side with the pregnant runner than the corporation

@Kerrcybertruck I think it goes WAY beyond race results. They should absolutely consider long term. And nobody gets dropped unless they violate the contract. That term is so misused. You aren’t dropped because they choose to not offer you another contract.

And before someone points it out, yes Norman Tate won assistant coach of the year but he’s the sprints, hurdles, and jumps coach and likely has nothing to do with the distance roster

USTFCCCA D3 indoor awards were anti-Rowan with UWL’s coach and star 400 guy winning coach and athlete of the year respectively. Looks like many coaches disagree with Clevenger coming down to D3

Bullying works! Shoutout to USATF and World Athletics for doing the right thing here
CITIUS MAG@CitiusMag

🇺🇸 On a strictly one-time basis, World Athletics has approved an expanded seven-woman U.S. team for the women's half marathon at the 2026 World Athletics Road Running Championships in Copenhagen (Sept. 19-20), up from the standard four. This comes after three American women (Jess McClain, Emma Grace Hurley and Ednah Kurgat) were robbed of a likely podium finish at the USATF Half Marathon Championships in Atlanta after a police injury caused the lead vehicle to direct the front pack off course The seven spots team will be: 3 off-course athletes: Jess McClain, Emma Grace Hurley, Ednah Kurgat 3 official top finishers: Molly Born, Carrie Ellwood, Annie Rodenfels 1 world ranking selection (as of May 5) 🗣️ CEO Max Siegel: “From the moment this happened, our focus was on doing right by the athletes. Jessica, Emma Grace, and Ednah had clearly separated themselves in the race and we are sorry they did not get to celebrate their accomplishment by breaking the tape. On behalf of everyone at USA Track & Field, I want to thank World Athletics. Their council and leadership are committed to a fair and athlete-centered solution that preserves the integrity of competition while recognizing the reality of what occurred in Atlanta.” How will it work in Copenhagen? USATF will designate four scoring athletes and three non-scoring athletes. The non-scoring trio are full Team USATF members and will earn World Athletics ranking points, but cannot contribute to team scoring, win medals, or receive official prize money and will wear a distinct kit. USATF will cover all additional expenses and will pay out any prize money non-scoring athletes earn on their own. 🔜 The full U.S. team will be named following the USATF 1 Mile Championships (April 22) and USATF 5K Championships (May 2).

When you realize that sponsorships for runners are really just marketing, then it's moronic behavior by UCAN to drop Emma Bates for being pregnant. A significant portion of your audience (women) will deal with being pregnant at some point??? That's the message you want to send??
