Cool genre of guy is the dude who is so into Sports he doesn't even root for a team. My father in law watches hockey highlights all day and he just roots for Hockey. He cheers for the kids on the other team when they are playing my kids if they are passing the puck properly.

@joannadangerfd To a certain degree, but a huge amount of sports engagement on here is Hating certain players/teams, which is largely informed by rivalries. Which this genre of fan isn’t impacted by, which I think is pretty rare.

@joannadangerfd I think it’s the norm for like MMA or Track and Field when there are a ton of different disciplines. But most people who are watching team sports will watch the rest of the teams but also have a primary one that has by far the most invested rooting interest.
