End of the second week of my training for my first half marathon. Prioritising moving my body was one of my goals for my PhD - not all PhD goals have to be academic. Today I found the most beautiful little running path through a nature park in Oxford.

@heidi_j_hawkins Thank you, Heidi! @nicola_stvns said the same thing and inspired my goal to prioritise my fitness. It’s such a great mental break.

Working with @heidi_j_hawkins has been incredible! If you’re looking for a PhD in the world of carbon, she’s the person to work with!

When the Reuters list of the top 1000 Climate scientists of the world featured only 5 Africans (all male) I was shocked and massively disappointed. The article by @IndraOverland, @NickZimson, @christrisos and co. in this thread reveals why this is the case.

But mostly I’ve learnt that the people you meet along the way will be the best part! I’ve had the pleasure of bumping into some incredible people over the past 2 months who have inspired me! @nHumidity @FunkyAnt @SallyArchibald thank you for the encouragement during this trip.

I have also learnt so much from this trip. I’ve learnt to just go with it and be flexible in the field, having driven all over the country in immediate response to granting of permits and reserve availability, and how to troubleshoot some pretty advanced equipment. (2/3)

Today is the last day of my first field campaign for my PhD. This has been a tough trip with a ton of learning. Bad weather, equipment problems, permit delays, a vehicle swop for size issues, and a crushed toe are among the things that have gone wrong. But.. (1/3)
