@heidi_j_hawkins Thank you, Heidi! @nicola_stvns said the same thing and inspired my goal to prioritise my fitness. It’s such a great mental break.

This news article, sent to me by my mother (thanks mom for keeping me up to date with SA news), has made my day! Having Debra Roberts at the helm of the @IPCC_CH would be a win for climate change, Africa, the Global South and women in STEM. news24.com/fin24/climate_…

Working with @heidi_j_hawkins has been incredible! If you’re looking for a PhD in the world of carbon, she’s the person to work with!

When the Reuters list of the top 1000 Climate scientists of the world featured only 5 Africans (all male) I was shocked and massively disappointed. The article by @IndraOverland, @NickZimson, @christrisos and co. in this thread reveals why this is the case.
Nick Simpson@NickZimson
From 1990–2019, research on Africa received only 3.8% of climate-related research funding globally. Of this 3.8% funding for climate research on Africa, 78% went to EU and North American institutions, while African institutions received only 14.5%.

But mostly I’ve learnt that the people you meet along the way will be the best part! I’ve had the pleasure of bumping into some incredible people over the past 2 months who have inspired me! @nHumidity @FunkyAnt @SallyArchibald thank you for the encouragement during this trip.

Fully set up in a Terminalia sericea grove today at @Tswalu to test the temperature response of young trees to current and future predicted temperatures using the @LICOR_ENV Li-6800. Loving the mobile pressure bombing set up! @TswaluFdn @OxfordEcosystem

Thank you @NatureRecovery for making my talk available for those that could not attend in person. I took stock of good things, bad things and the role of social narratives in the #KMGBF... surely not everyone will agree!
