@writethewrongs2 I mostly stopped feeding after the RSPC thing, but I feel terrible. Bit of scatter feeding but that's all. I disinfected everything & feel stopping is the wrong thing. Was bought up told this is the most important time to feed because of this chicks!

Spare a thought for the hard work going on all around you as birds bring new life into the world. 💚 It is a constant battle for them to find food and you may spot some birds looking a little raggedy. This constant activity to and from the nest wears feathers down and plumage may look like it needs some TLC. I have one very raggedy looking robin that frequents the garden regularly. My friendly robin also now has a clump of messy feathers on his back. This morning, there was a dishevelled blue tit at the window feeder. This is not uncommon or alarming - it typically shows the wear and tear on the birds. Robins get very little rest typically producing several broods each year - up to five. There are four or five eggs per brood. May and June are exceptionally busy months for blue tits too. The female lays one egg a day in May - up to 16 but the usual clutch size is between 8 and 10 eggs. Each chick can consume 100 caterpillars per day! Multiply that by the number of hungry mouths. I still feed the birds in my garden. I have been doing so for years and cannot bring myself to stop. I am extra careful about monitoring birds locally to detect signs of disease and constantly clean out window feeders and bird baths. Additional hygiene makes all the difference in the fight against disease.

@chrisk_nature Don't get why people generally dislike corvids: intelegent birds who pair for life, have generally caring & complex family groups, who do what they need to survive. A family visits my garden. Did have a chuckle the other day at an altercation between a jackdaw & a wood pigeon 🤣

So I have found myself employed at a new Italian bakery opening next week. Purely coincidental through the workplace I was temping at last week. I'm very excited as it's only 3 days a week and completely different to the desk jobs I've had over the last decade!

@Wasntwouldnt I think it might be called cow parsley... I've also heard it called ground elder. This plant has more identities than the Jackal 🤣

When I'm finishing a novel that's dark I just can't read crime. The wonderful @KReadingmachine introduced me to the fantastic @PaigeToonAuthor & she is my go to author when I crave lightness in a read. I rarely wish a book would never end but this one I want to go on forever.
