@mrjamesob I don't think even you can restore my faith in humanity James. This isn't just Trump this fuels a global movement to very dark places.

@RSteven36808818 @naomicfisher You are wrong, some of the best "teachers" aren't the ones with degrees they're the ones living it and living it through their children.

@naomicfisher I've looked at every single person who has stated their support for you in this thread. Not a single person is a teacher according to their bio. It doesn't mean they must be wrong. But they are.

It doesn't really matter what I say on here, it's guaranteed that someone will be angry about it. Someone will be furious and say I am making things up, or grifting. Someone will suggest that I'm exploiting parents because I don't work for free. In a way, that's quite liberating. It means there isn't much difference between saying something completely anodyne and actually quite challenging - it will all get the same response. Someone will be outraged. So I'm going to say what I really think. Punishing children does not help them learn. When 'structure and consequences' is a euphemism for 'harsh control' then we put the long term wellbeing of our children at risk, in the service of short term control. Yes, frightened children look well behaved. Yes, scared teenagers are quiet and face the front. Yes, silent corridors are so much more orderly. Yes, you can push children into getting better exam results if you simply don't allow them to do anything else. The question isn't whether we can do things, the question is whether it's really worth it. Controlling children will only get you so far, because children grow up, and they need to learn how to control themselves. You can't learn self-control through being controlled, the two things are separate. One is about compliance, whilst the other is about agency. Doing as you're told will only get you so far. If that's what we prioritise in our children's education, no wonder they are telling us (and showing us) that they're unhappy.

The Prince and Princess of Wales@KensingtonRoyal

A message from Catherine, The Princess of Wales As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment. The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown. The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you. With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything. This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved. Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes. I am however looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can. Despite all that has gone before I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life. William and I are so grateful for the support we have received and have drawn great strength from all those who are helping us at this time. Everyone’s kindness, empathy and compassion has been truly humbling. To all those who are continuing their own cancer journey – I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand. Out of darkness, can come light, so let that light shine bright. 🎬 by Will Warr

@benhaslm @ShelaghFogarty Vile racist thugs. Nothing to do with any of the events that have torn apart a community. They're not even from there. It was a targeted hit on a mosque for the sake of it!!

@ShelaghFogarty the late Cesar Manrique a Canarian artist campaigned successful to stop tourism ruining Lanzarote with over building, high rise hotels. He would stand in front of bulldozers. He succeeded and the architecture of the island is all down to him.
