My wife decided to embrace the "bliss" recently promoted by @Translink_NI, opting to use public transport to help ease traffic congestion and do her bit. She’s now been waiting for half an hour, with all buses delayed and the display at the bus stop not even working.

While in Derry we stopped to chat to young students from the college, in the space of half an hour I was told one had a friend who was attacked recently, the second one said she’s been talking pictures of the number plates before getting into taxis and sending it to friends in case she’s abducted, one woman told me she’s pulled strands from her hair while in a taxi in case she was raped to leave DNA behind and another was on her way to Stand Road station to ask for rape alarms which she didn’t get because the enquiry desk is currently closed, the reality of being a young woman in 2024

Honestly don’t think I was entirely convinced that pure white eggs weren’t just a prop in movies until now…

The bottom line is, women do not want nor are we asking for men to protect us, we’re asking for men to stop being the thing we need protection from. I can’t make it any clearer.
