It’s not easy to talk about these things, but it’s vital to have everything in order whilst you can still make those important decisions whilst you still can 💙 #PlanAhead #Will

#AlzAuthors is a fabulous resource if you are caring for a loved one who lives with #dementia 💙 It’s so important to share stories and resources so that we can continue to learn and support in the best way x

The one thing I always tell the families that I support who have a loved one with #dementia - the word or the name may be forgotten, but the feeling and the love will always remain 💕💙
Patti LaFleur@carepatti

My Mom stopped calling me Patti or identifying me as her daughter, but it’s pretty clear to me that it didn’t stop her for loving me. 🥰 She called me “you” and I was clearly her #safespace. #dementia #dementiacare #caregiver #carepartner

This just shows how even if living with #dementia you retain your inner sense of #self! Feelings will always remain - It’s so important to remember this in #DementiaCare 💙

My patient has advanced #AD. Can't recognise his home - but finds his way to his room every time. Can't explain who his wife is - but chooses her company over anyone else. Doesn't remember he dislikes onion - but will push it aside on the plate. #Identity #Self #Beyondwords

1/2. The #studentloancompany wrote to my sister today (who died in april) asking if she can prove shes dead. I rang to ask if I can email them her death certificate. Apparently not, they need concrete evidence. 🤷🏾‍♀️

@BON4680 @Giovanna_Forte @RoyLilley I agree - it is definitely immoral how much footballers earn however the actual players just want to play football - they can’t be blamed for the money involved in their chosen career

@Giovanna_Forte @RoyLilley Forgetting the crap pay care home staff/nurses get I do get rather fecked off when people mention footballers wages. They are very good at what they do and their agents secure them the best wage possible. No one would turn that down in their place of work would they 🤷‍♂️

Today I arranged for a daily paper to be delivered to a friend now living in a care home. Got chatting to the newsagent and discovered he pays the paper boys £12 an hour. The care home pay their staff £9.20 an hour.

@char48901565 @DavisVThomas @RoyLilley I worked for a care home until recently, not a big chain but actually a non- profit charity based company with UK patrons & whereas those at the top earned around £60-£80k a year, us on ‘the floor’ caring for the resident earned £9.80-£11 per hour

@DavisVThomas @RoyLilley Is this an unsubstantiated claim as I’ve worked in many care homes. I’m assuming you are referring to the big chains of care homes, which do have owners from outside the UK, but you will find these homes actually do pay more to their staff
