Reform candidate for Swansea in the upcoming Welsh elections steps down. Very strong statement. "Politics is a dirty game, but Reform has sunk deep into the sewer when it should have been a beacon of decency." This tallies with what many long-term Reform members have been telling me for some time regarding frustration at what they see as an increasingly dictatorial style from Farage and those close to him. These are the people Reform are going to need to be out knocking doors over the next six weeks.

I've lived in Maesteg for most of my 75 years . I've been a councillor for 25 years .I looked at the Reform list for Afan, Ogwr,Rhondda in May and my reaction was 'who are these people ?' Where are they from ? What's their background ? God help Wales and devolution .

Tithes to the English Church. And on every road, a tollgate. You couldn't move without paying. On the night of 13 May 1839 a crowd appeared at the Efailwen tollgate in Pembrokeshire. Every single one of them was dressed as a woman. Long skirts. Bonnets. Shawls. Work boots visible beneath the hems. Their leader stood at the front. They called her Rebecca. The name came from the Bible. Genesis 24:60. "Let thy seed possess the gate of those which hate them." They destroyed the gate. The trust rebuilt it. Rebecca came back. They destroyed it again. Seventy-five years old. The keeper of the Hendy tollgate, Carmarthenshire. On the night of September 9th 1843 Rebecca came for her gate. She was ordered to leave. She refused. They set fire to the tollhouse. She walked to her neighbour's door. She said: "Dear, dear." And fell down dead. Those who were caught were transported to Tasmania. In a fairly competitive field, the new Welsh law against political lying may be the worst legislation the Senedd has passed.

@aledgwynj @Joe___Allen Agree with you in many ways, but it seems the public are blind to lies and some parties appear to knowingly promise the impossible without recourse. Brexit promises are a generational harm for example.

Agreed Joe. Virtue Signalling on steroids from the roboids in the Bay. They'll now spend all their time accusing each other of lying. It's a recipe for disaster expecting the politicians not to use this for political gamesmanship. It's the PUBLIC who should make the call whether politicians are lying to them in a democracy, not fellow politicians!🫣
