I have to tell you my favourite Yom Haatzmaut story... And I made sure to get full permission to share this story and photo with you. So, last year, I finish my Yom Haatzmaut speech. People form a queue to speak with me. And I notice this little girl waiting alone, patiently. I say hello. At first she's shy. Then she says sweetly: "You are so inspirational." I'm taken aback that a nine-year-old was just touched by my words intended mainly for an adult audience. This child's eyes were oozing curiosity. She captures my attention. We start talking. Her poise, intelligence, and that curiosity impress me beyond measure. "You are going to change the world, Marielle," I tell her. She stands up straighter. Smiles confidently. "No one has ever said that to me before." I offer to gift her my book. "Would you like to read this?" She gets excited. What? We are having a moment. I'm getting verklempt... So I sign the book: "Marielle, one day you're going to be a world-changer. And I already know this. Because you just changed the world for me." And I told her that I can't wait for the day when she signs her book for me.💙
