Bill 2 is not tabled yet, but the news is out. They’re going to use the Notwithstanding Clause to override the Constitution and to strip teachers of their rights to association and collective bargaining. And they’re going to use huge fines to discourage defiance.

@darkshad9999 @TheBreakdownAB It has been. Not only does it invoke the NWC but also overrides the Alberta Bill of Rights and the Alberta Human Rights Act. In other words, they know exactly how bad the thing is that they are doing, and they’re daring anyone to challenge them.

The ATA’s strike appears to be all about politics - prioritizing partisan games over supporting teachers or our kids’ education. The federal government’s mass immigration policies have brought tens of thousands of kids to Alberta classrooms, many struggling with English. No wonder teachers face overwhelming complexities - the inclusion model is clearly failing under this strain. Teachers deserve better than being pawns in union tactics. The government’s offer is exceptional: 130+ new schools, 3,000 more teachers, 1,500 new EAs, and a 12% raise over 4 year - far surpassing any NDP-era deal, which often gave next to nothing for increases amid soaring inflation. This is real investment in our educators and students. School boards play a role in this too. The province allocates more than enough funding to tackle serious issues - is that money reaching classrooms? Our kids? If not, why not? It’s time for transparency and accountability. We all want what’s best for our children. No one gets the moral high ground in a labour dispute that disrupts our kids. ATA: stop the political posturing. Get teachers back to work so our kids can return to class. #ABEdStrike #KidsFirst #AlbertaEducation
