If you are outraged that a city would paint a rainbow crosswalk on the street in order to respect the historically discriminated against LGBTQ+ community, but you are perfectly fine with towns putting Christmas decorations up in order to celebrate a holiday that many people don’t celebrate, aren’t you a hypocrite? Many of these same people who are outraged over the Pride crosswalks were also the ones who were adamantly against moving statues of racist, confederate losers from the streets in cities and towns and into museums. The pride flag isn’t a religious or political affiliation. It’s a symbol of respect for a historically isolated and discriminated group of people. It's a celebration of freedom and liberty to be who you want to be. I agree that some people take things too far (i.e. transgender women playing women's sports), but the vile displays of hate toward the LGBTQ+ community are disgusting. It's ironic, because I hear over and over again, "Gay people have just as many rights and acceptance in America as straight people" all of the time. Yet, these people are also the ones who are celebrating the destruction and hate that's being spewed at the LGBTQ+ community on social media on a daily basis.
