@KevinGeorg47975 @sociallion @revjeffvox @Protestia Correct. But you can’t deny the point of blood sacrifices in relation to the two different covenants. Sin has to be atoned for or else the sacrifices in the OT are meaningless and Jesus’ death is meaningless. Heb 10:14.

One is not “released” from their guilt/sin apart from the shedding of Christ’s blood. The wages is sin is death, Jesus died in my place.

If shedding of blood is required for forgiveness, and Jesus shed his blood for us, what was it for if it was not to "cancel the debt" (Col 2:13-14) of our sins?

The wages of sin is death (Rom 6:23) and the soul that sins shall die (Ezekiel 18:20). 12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, (Hebrews 10:12)

@RAYS_JT @Protestia In Hebrew, kaphar, atonement, means to clean, wipe, or cover. It can apply to buildings, the tabernacle, objects, and people. When in a relational context it results in reconciliation. It is not a payment.

@KevinGeorg47975 @Protestia A goat was a sacrifice for sin. One goat was killed / sacrificed "to the Lord" to provide atonement for sin through blood. The other, the scapegoat, was presented alive before the Lord to be used to make atonement by carrying sins away, and was sent into the wilderness.

@revjeffvox @sociallion @Protestia The blood of Jesus is about a blood oath for the release of our sins. Mat. 26:28. It doesn't buy our sins from God or bribe God to forgive or forget. It cleanses and changes us from living wrong to living right (functional justification).

@sociallion @KevinGeorg47975 @Protestia Again, I never claimed that the blood of animals takes away sins. But the blood of Jesus clearly does. Isaiah 53:10 explicitly identifies Jesus as our "guilt offering." Read Acts 20:28, Ephesians 1:7, 1 Peter 1:18–19, ​Matthew 26:28, Revelation 5:9.
