WSJ Journal article today - Wyoming is buying gold. Makes sense—states are hedging against debt, inflation, and dollar risk. But history offers a caution: In 1933, the U.S. didn’t just hedge with gold…it confiscated it. Executive Order 6102. A state legislator mentioned in the article trying to leave something better for grandchildren. I know what I’m saving in for my grandchildren. It's not dollars. Or gold...

Thanks @VanceCrowe for speaking at Iowa State University. "Bitcoin ≠ equal gold. Bitcoin ≈ Farmland." Now I have to change my presentations about Bitcoin!

For the first time, farmers may manage: Corn vs Soybeans Spot vs Futures AND Commodity vs Bitcoin Money itself becomes strategic. That’s not product innovation. That’s business model innovation. bitcorn.biz/the-bitcorn-5

Interesting, Bill. The tractor analogy is good to consider. @neil_dahlstrom wrote a great book, Tractor Wars, that documented how very early, in the 1850s, people could see that tractors would be great tools. It just took the invention of the internal combustion engine, and many decades, for tractors to actually become a reality. Technology is evolving so much faster now...

There is a real cost to intentionally spreading the "doomer" narrative over and over. Imagine being the early 1900s, and the USA polling as "anti-tractor" and some other country "pro-tractor." Its really no different.

2. And another 1980s flashback. The grain probe at the local grain elevator was broken, so the manager would step out and take a sample with a coffee can from the top of the load on the scale. A family decided that the broken probe represented a good opportunity to load the bottom of the truck with rotting corn and fill the top with better stuff. It only took a few loads for the guys unloading the trucks to tell the manager what was going on. I still recall my dad explaining this small town scandal to me as a lesson in bad actors.

“Don’t trust, verify” is one of the shortest phrases in Bitcoin—but it carries an enormous amount of meaning.

Wall Street Journal: "All that stands between the U.S. and debt-market freakout is the dollar." Is that supposed to make readers feel better? #Bitcoin

The Founders designed the U.S. Constitution with an aim to balance the centralized and decentralized, the great yin and yang of American political economy. U.S. monetary history = a pendulum between centralization and decentralization.
