If you want a one sentence precis on where Syracuse basketball is in 2026, just digest that Bryan Hodgson, a great coach from upstate New York, turned them down.No clue if he will take Providence. No program has fallen so much in recent history. Hodgson will get many, many other opportunities, as will Ryan Pannone, both Oats disciples. Gerry M. will most likely be hired. I have touted Hodgson for months.

I like that Rutgers accepted a bid to the April 2 Crown in Vegas: Extra practice time. At least $50,000. A chance to win something, anything. Creighton does not impress me. Saw them in the Big East tourney, Who cares if 2-3 teams from the Big Ten turned it down.

Those who are criticizing James Jones should first listen to his presser. Pure, unmitigated class. He is the best coach in the Ivy right now. Few dispute that. His decision not to foul is made by a majority of NCAA coaches in 2026. Of course, you can disagree, but he had the best Ivy defender, Simmons on Power. As to Power, there is a 0% chance that he leaves Penn after this season. Lots of reasons that many might not know. He has a great situation at Penn, on many levels.

Tell me again why VCU isn’t in the Big East yet? Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, they have nearly dominated or been at the top of the conference most years since they joined the A10 along with hiring top tier coaches. They have been incredibly good program.

@bfranklin1993 The question that has to be asked did Sha drop the ball not playing him more during season. In limited time, he didn’t show nearly anything like Big East tourney numbers. Maybe he could have been differece maker but we don’t see practices, film study, etc.
