Cried through my speech, but I made it & residency is over! This was the hardest, yet most rewarding time of my life. Thank you to my family, friends, mentors, & supporters. Thanks to Dr. Minifee who drove from Texas to be there! This took a village. @UMPedsSurg up next! 🎉🍾👧🏽

Academic Medicine will say “diversity is important,” while actively maintaining anti Black spaces. Dr. Robert Ray Jr endured a harmful and toxic learning environment without support from institutional bodies claiming to care about DEI work.

Heartbroken to hear about a doctor who experienced a pregnancy loss. Gladly, she had access to abortion drugs and lives in a state that supports choice. There is a real human impact with restrictive abortion laws. Women deserve compassion, choice, and access to safe healthcare.
Danielle Prentice, DO@dkirch888

Yesterday, I took mifepristone and today I will take misprostol for a missed abortion for a very wanted and very planned pregnancy. The combination has about an 85% success rate and will hopefully allow me to avoid an invasive procedure. I am really sad, and I am feeling the loss

Wound care/dressing changes are one of the most painful parts of recovering from a severe burn, so any distraction, especially for pediatric patients, is welcome. We teamed up with a @UTSWNews med student & @cristoreydallas to turn a wound care room into an underwater wonderland.

...It's time to dismantle the broken system and rebuild it with compassion and humanity. Dr. Nakita Mortimer deserved better. To anyone else that is suffering, remember, you are not alone. There is help available. (3/3)

... but she was also courageously fighting for unionization to address the dire working conditions. Her death amplifies the urgent need for systemic change, both in mental health support and resident rights. Our healers deserve better... (2/3)

Devastated by the loss of another resident to suicide. We mourn not just an individual, but a system that failed to protect their well-being. She was driven to the edge by grueling work hours and a toxic environment... (1/3)

This is my dear friend, Nakita. Nakita and I were medical school classmates and both interns in New York City. Nakita tragically took her own life on May 26. She is such a beautiful soul. She was so fun to be around. She was intelligent, charismatic, and confident. (1/x)
