Resin distributor sales guy came in today with donuts - much appreciated. Said any railcars for April will have a $0.20 per pound higher cost - not appreciated. This is a 40% increase in price. He was marketing last week with his district manager meeting with customers in New Jersey - tone with resin buyers/plastic manufacturing businesses very poor. His customers are just frozen and not sure what to do with volumes anemic with limited confidence they can pass these raw material increases onto their end customers. Big customers are buying as much as they can at certain levels while most of his customers are like me (buy just when in need) and he's seen VOLUMES DROP BY 50% as buyers just want to see what's going to happen the next few weeks and if this export ban will take place. Guys that normally buy 2-4 rail cars a month are now just doing 1 when they about to run out of material. Will be interesting to see what happens the next few weeks.
