Not sure if this is a hot take but I don’t think positional value and the WAR that comes with it should matter as much when evaluating for ROY, it’s not most valuable rookie Sal Stewart should be one of the front runners in the NL but he’s not gonna win because his WAR

I’m super pro teams going for it and not prospect hugging but you can’t trade ELITE prospects for rentals It would’ve been an all time bad move for the rays to trade Junior Caminero for half a season of Ohtani a few years ago
