The idea of the owners accepting a lost season doesn't add up to me.
They would lose an absolutely ungodly amount of money. How quickly do they think revenues and valuations will grow under a cap in order to make back the losses? Many of these owners don't have 20 years to wait.

@BrianGlaeser @EvanDrellich It’s laid out quite clearly in the article. Only certain things count towards the 50/50. many revenue streams available to owners are off limits to the calculation. Evan does a great job of talking about it in non-legal terms.

I think one of the biggest differences nowadays is how most pitchers are sitting near their max velo.
Randy Johnson touched 96.6 mph with a fastball on 4-25-2008 (at age-44). He also threw a fastball 88.6 mph in that same game.

As of 2 months ago, no pitcher had ever thrown 50 pitches at 100+ MPH in a single MLB game because of course they hadn't.
Jacob Misiorowski has done it seven times since then.
