@GUnit_81 @mspadaccino He still has 11 Sweet 16s-or further, including 4 Elite Eights (two on the trot coming into this year) and a Final Four. McCollum has done none of those things yet at D1. He may well in the end, but there's no one on this list that you DEFINITELY have to put behind McCollum.

@brauf33 Yeah, seeing this two straight seasons is a concern. I argue NIL does not dilute parity in CFB, b/c for all of the best G5/FCS/D2 players moving up, P5 2nd and 3rd stringers move down. But maybe this is gonna be more of a problem in CBB, where there's only 15 players per team.

Hand up, I was wrong about this first round. I thought we were going to see more upsets than we did. No shortage of drama, certainly, and plenty of close calls, but we only have two 11-seeds and one 12-seed moving through to this point. Chalky as hell. Not that there weren’t opportunities. Siena led Duke for a majority of the game. South Florida made it close, and McNeese was right there with Vandy for most of their game. Akron, Wright State, Hofstra all had their moments, too. But the favorites had the players that capitalized. I’m still of the belief that upsets are not dead or that there will be no more Cinderella teams. NIL & the portal play a role with where we’re at right now, obviously, but so does the strength of this freshman class (and last year’s) and the amount of quality mid-major coaches we’ve seen move up to the power level. Think it’s the mix of all those that play into this. The landscaped has changed, sure, but this stretch of chalk isn’t permanent

@HughJupside @ToddFuhrman Basically came here to say this. The culture of the NCAA tournaments is the culture of upsets and Cinderellas. Yes, people like upsets and Cinderellas in other sports, but it's not imprinted in the DNA of the league/culture/event like it is in the NCAAT.

@ToddFuhrman Human beings are drawn to Narratives. The March Madness narrative is that of Upsets, Cinderellas, etc. People want to embrace the narrative, identify those upsets (and pat themselves on the back for doing so).

@EndConservtism @BizzlePep They do have 100,000 students if you include online students, so they actually DO deserve the U of Phoenix comparison. My .02: they weren't even D1 until 12 years ago, and yet they have this huge fanbase and are rapidly upwardly mobile...something feels off/inorganic/unseemly.

Congrats to Miami (OH) and its fans. All the debate about how good the RedHawks were (or weren’t) can be laid to rest. Those that gloated that Miami would get killed in the NCAA Tournament were dead wrong. They were the better team last night for sure. I thought Miami really dominated that game. Not only was their shooting excellent, but their passing was amazing too. I’d like to see the NCAA Tournament make a rule that no teams can get an at-large invitation to the NCAA Tournament unless they have won at least half their league games.
