I appreciate your take.. but my question then is why not just talk to me as a person? Why talk to me as a black person with a white wife? We’re just two married people. But they don’t just see two people, they see a black man & a white woman.. and they think somehow that makes them more empathetic. But it doesn’t.. what is communicates to me is they don’t just see me as a person, they see me as my race. I am more than just my race.

I'm in an interracial marriage. Being in an interracial marriage is cool unless you're dealing with a Black Republican. Because if you're a Black Republican in an interracial marriage, then interracial marriage ain't cool. We can't use race to weaponize our politics and our media.
