The NAACP has submitted a formal report to the Senate Judiciary Committee urging lawmakers to oppose Todd Blanche's nomination as U.S. Attorney General. His record of abandoning civil rights enforcement, weaponizing the DOJ against vulnerable communities, and carrying out the personal and political bidding of the president disqualifies him from leading the nation's highest law enforcement agency. The Senate Judiciary Committee must reject this nomination. naacp.org/articles/naacp…

June 9th, 2026 a $70 billon bill was passed in the House 214-212, and then was signed into law by President Trump that expanded ICE funding. Twice just this week a life was lost through deadly force by ICE Our job this Nov is to stop electing the accomplice to the crimes
The Associated Press@AP

Footage from a security camera captured the shooting Monday during an immigration enforcement operation in the city of Biddeford. The incident marked the second time in a week that ICE used deadly force and at least the ninth death since President Donald Trump began his immigration crackdown.

No voter should have to choose between participating in democracy and feeling safe in their own home. This ruling sends a clear message: no individual or organization is above the law when it comes to voter intimidation. We stand with those fighting to protect every voter’s right to cast a ballot free from fear. "The court's decision sends a clear message. No individual or organization is above the law when it comes to voter intimidation. The right to cast a ballot free from fear or discrimination lies at the heart of democracy." — @KristenClarkeJD, NAACP General Counsel naacp.org/articles/court…

Sixty-two years ago today, equal protection became the law of the land under the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This was the result of relentless organizing, courageous protesting, and an unyielding belief that every person deserves equal protection under the law. NAACP stood at the heart of that struggle, lobbying tirelessly to outlaw discrimination. And today, we honor the advocates who made this milestone possible by recommitting to the work that remains. The promise of equality is not yet fully realized, and the fight for justice still needs us.

Today, a federal judge blocked unlawful USPS procedures that would have kept mail-in ballots from reaching voters. NAACP, alongside @Public_Citizen and @NAACP_LDF, Inc., fought back and won. This ruling is a victory for every voter who relies on mail-in voting to make their voice heard, especially Black voters who already face systemic barriers at the ballot box. We won't stop here. We will continue to litigate, advocate, and agitate until every vote is counted. naacp.org/articles/naacp…

We condemn the Supreme Court's ruling banning transgender youth from sports teams. There is nothing American about banning kids from sports simply for being themselves. Our schools must be safe, accessible spaces for every child. Sports are not a privilege. They are community. They are belonging. They are a daily signal to a young person that they have a place in this world. We're calling on Congress to pass the Equality Act and establish full civil rights protections for LGBTQIA+ Americans. The dignity of every child is non-negotiable. naacp.org/articles/naacp…

A victory for the American voter! 🗳️ This week, a U.S. District Judge blocked the Trump administration from enforcing its Executive Order, which would restrict the delivery of mail-in ballots ahead of the November midterms. "This ruling strikes down a dangerous scheme to manufacture an unprecedented federal database intended to strip voters from the rolls this midterm election season." —@KristenClarkeJD, NAACP General Counsel This is a huge win, but our work to protect voters continues. naacp.org/articles/naacp…

#BREAKING: Today, the Supreme Court cleared the way for the Trump administration to strip Temporary Protected Status (TPS) from more than 350,000 Haitian immigrants, putting them at immediate risk of deportation to a country still in crisis. “The Supreme Court has given the green light to deport over 350,000 people, jeopardizing their safety, all while ignoring clear equal protection principles. It’s a shame that this is the America we’ve come to be.” —President and CEO @DerrickNAACP Read our full statement. naacp.org/articles/naacp…

They held him down, shaved his locs against his will, and now the Supreme Court says he can't even sue for damages. The Supreme Court ruled that Damon Landor and other incarcerated people have no recourse, even when their religious beliefs are violated behind prison walls. His faith wasn't a crime. His locs weren't a threat. But apparently, his rights were expendable. This can't be the end of the story. apnews.com/article/suprem…

Justice isn't a privilege but a right that belongs to everyone. The attorneys stepping up pro bono for Karmelo Anthony's appeal represent exactly what our justice system should look like: principled, accountable, and committed to due process. The NAACP will always champion a legal process that is open, equitable, and worthy of public trust. naacp.org/articles/naacp…

The DOJ just told a court that xAI can break the law, because the Trump administration says so. One of the top emitters of the smog-forming pollutant in the country, xAI's massive power plant is able to emit more than 5,300 tons of nitrogen oxides (NOx). It also pumps 433 tons of fine particulate matter and 47 tons of formaldehyde into nearby communities in Memphis and North Mississippi each year. No company is above the Clean Air Act. We won't back down from this fight. naacp.org/articles/trump…

Sixty-three years ago today, Medgar Evers returned home to his family only to be met with an assassin's bullet before he could even reach his front door. The 37-year old father of three, husband, and NAACP leader's life and voice were stolen from us in a senseless act of racial violence. Today, we honor his courage, his sacrifice, and his unwavering dedication to the fight for justice, equity, and voting rights. His legacy lives on in each of us. May the movement continue to move forward in his memory.

The fight in Tennessee is bigger than one map. Across the country, we're seeing a coordinated push to weaken Black voting power and redraw the lines of our democracy. We just joined the NAACP Tennessee State Conference, impacted voters, and co-counsels the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and LDF to file a motion to block Tennessee's newly enacted congressional map, which dismantles the state's only majority-Black district. We're asking the court to act now, before the 2026 elections, because the harm here cannot be undone. Once ballots are cast under an unfair map, Black voters can lose representation that no ruling can give back. "Make no mistake, what we are seeing in Tennessee and across the South is an undeniable effort to strip Black voters of their power and their voice." —@KristenClarkeJD, NAACP General Counsel naacp.org/articles/naacp…

The NAACP is condemning the U.S. Supreme Court's latest decision allowing Alabama to use a congressional map previously found to be intentionally discriminatory against Black voters, warning that the ruling marks another dangerous step in the dismantling of voting rights in the state and across the country. The Court's action follows its most recent decision in Louisiana v. Callais, which has triggered racial gerrymandering efforts across the South. Read more: naacp.org/articles/naacp…

Today, the Alabama Federal Court rejected a new gerrymandered map, ruling that it was discriminatory to Black voters in the state. NAACP President and CEO @DerrickNAACP had this to say: "We applaud the Alabama Federal Court’s ruling today, preserving Black representation. Redrawing maps to silence the voices of entire communities cannot be tolerated. It goes against the very values of democracy that our ancestors fought and died for. Our chapters in Alabama mobilized to reject this map, and we will continue to fight across the country to protect our voice. Today’s ruling is good news, but we know it is not the end of this fight."
