1.2 million adults (18-65y) in Sweden. ~9,000 had a physician-diagnosed long COVID. No prior CVD or COVID hospitalization (i.e. mild acute COVID) Over 4 years, 18% of women and 21% of men with long COVID developed cardiovascular disease (vs. 8% & 11% in those w/o long COVID.)

Recent study in eClinicalMedicine shows that Long COVID significantly raises the risk of cardiovascular disease, even in people who were never hospitalized for COVID.

@marlapropism @drseanmullen I’ve always called it cognitive dysfunction (in my case brought on by neuro-LC and Covid-related brain damage, most probably due to neuro inflammation and what the virus did once it crossed the blood-brain barrier)

@drseanmullen It’s a really problematic, reality-obscuring term. Those of us aware of the gravity it domesticates, should make a point of not using it and calling neuroinflammation what it is.

“Brain fog” is the most polite term for neuroinflammation we’ve ever invented. It sounds like weather. It is structural.

Young people are unwell. Many don't know why they're constantly tired, have pains, problems with mental health, focus, memory, sleep. For the past five years they've had repeated Covid infections. "The adults in the room" told them they were harmless — the adults too lazy to act.

The Times. Young people aren’t ‘rewired by smartphones into an anxious generation’. Economic recession, lack of treatment and crushed life possibilities are better predictors of mental ill health. And an ADHD or anxiety diagnosis doesnt automatically mean dropping out of work.

@NewsWire_US I think our US friends might be shocked to learn that air-con is actually FORBIDDEN from being installed in UK hospital wards. They prefer to let patients swelter in the heat. (PS. There’s not even decent ventilation as windows are limited to being opened no more than 10cm!).

One thing that could make a BIG difference is portable air filters. These are essentially large fans with an integral filter which create air flow whilst simultaneously filtering out airborne pathogens like viruses & air pollution. Listen to Prof Beggs at the Covid Inquiry ⬇️

Exactly. Too late for us, but if tremendous benefit in air quality NOW, helping reduce the spread of airborne infection between patients and staff.

People from other countries are often shocked by the ‘asphyxiatingly hot’ wards & lack of air-con in our hospitals. It’s something that’s just taken for granted in other comparable countries where hospitals are usually ‘aggressively climate controlled’. reddit.com/r/NursingUK/co…
