Should clarify, the hitting streak started last season. *Technically* he’s on a 21-game hitting streak for this season alone. But that’s not fun, now is it?

With tonight’s hit, Ildemaro Vargas is now 5 games away from the franchise record hitting streak (Luis Gonzalez hit safely for 30 games in 1999.) #Dbacks

For those into the traditional counting stats, Kelly is dealing a 9.20 ERA in 14.2 IP with 9 strikeouts in his three starts.

Kelly’s Baseball Savant page in 2025 vs 2026: My guess is that Merrill Kelly’s back injury is still lingering. Nerve issues like that tend to stick around. If these starts continue, I would imagine they look to move him back to IL. Can’t keep trotting him out there.
