After a long silence in X, @JollaHQ is back. And we're bringing something Europe desperately needs.
The Jolla Phone: Europe's independent smartphone running #SailfishOS 5.
In 2013, when we founded Jolla from @nokia MeeGo’s ashes, people called us naive. "You can't compete with iOS and Android," they said. They were right about one thing: we weren't trying to compete. We were building an alternative.
Today, that alternative matters more than ever.
Every Android phone, every iPhone — they all phone home to California. Your data, your habits, your conversations: processed, analyzed, stored on someone else's terms. GDPR promised European digital sovereignty. But what good are data protection laws when your entire digital life runs on American infrastructure?
This isn't about nationalism. It's about choice. It's about owning your device instead of renting it. It's about a phone that respects you enough to give you:
• Sailfish OS 5 — the only commercially viable European mobile OS
• A physical privacy switch (kill camera/mic when you want)
• A replaceable battery (remember those?)
• Android app compatibility (because we're practical)
• No Google Play Services siphoning your data
We spent 12 years in the wilderness, keeping Sailfish OS alive through die-hard community support. While the mobile OS graveyard filled with names like Symbian, MeeGo, Firefox OS and Windows Phone — we survived.
Now there are only four commercially viable mobile operating systems left in the world and only one is from Europe:
• iOS (US)
• Android (US)
• HarmonyOS (China)
• Sailfish OS (Europe) ⭐️
This comeback isn't driven by investors or quarterly targets. It's driven by something simpler: We just love building products that actually deserves to exist. No fake-it-until-you-make-it. Just engineering, iteration, and a belief that Europe needs its own mobile platform.
The phone pre-order launches today at jolla.com. 5G, dual-SIM, 12GB RAM, replaceable covers in Snow White, Kaamos Black, and The Orange (yes, THAT orange — nostalgia included).
If you believe #Europe should have alternatives to #BigTech, if you're tired of being the product instead of a respected customer, if you remember what it felt like when phones were tools instead of surveillance devices — this is for you.
We're not naive. We're just stubborn.
Welcome back, Jolla. 🇪🇺

@NokiaLoopID @RODENT950 US gov only allow Qualcomm 4G for Huawei. Huawei stopped purchasing Qualcomm. If Huawei recovered Kirin, they can't purchase Qualcomm anymore because of US gov sanctions.

@KhanPuking @RODENT950 Can't they get around this by using a processor from another vendor like the Mate50?

@DaggettBrent @RODENT950 Because of the war, most adult Ukrainian men almost died. Fight to the last Ukrainian. The Ukrainian people are very poor. But the United States wants to see war because it can gain many benefits. Of course, Russia is not completely innocent. It also likes war.
English

@KhanPuking @RODENT950 To be honest I bet you haven't got a clue what's really happening in Ukraine!. It's a tradegy for the world 🌎 what Russia is doing to a nation that did not want Russian interference but now they fight for their very existence! What would you do if Russia attacked your family?.
English

@DaggettBrent @RODENT950 After the war between Russia and Ukraine, NATO continued to expand. NATO is an important military tool for the United States to control Europe.
English

@RODENT950 Get a life! And stick to Mobile phones!.
If you support Russia's war of choice just tell your followers because a🎈 above America will change nothing but China is a country that has more in common with the west than Russia but unfortunately it's heading down a dangerous path!.

@DaggettBrent @RODENT950 Of course, Russia itself likes war. This is one of the reasons why the United States can provoke war. Russia is not entirely innocent. However, it is the United States that wants war most. This is American global hegemony and imperialism.
English

@DaggettBrent @RODENT950 The United States can also support European internal puppets to strengthen control over Europe through the war between Russia and Ukraine, and then suck blood from Europe.
English

@DaggettBrent @RODENT950 The United States started the war, and then Germany could not cooperate with Russia, and then it could strengthen its control over Europe. At the same time, it can force European enterprises to invest in the United States and sell weapons to make money.
English

@RODENT950 The United States has too many chips in stock. Their chip companies want to make money.

Looks like Qualcomm is more worried than Huawei about these rumors about new "all in" sanctions 🤷♂️
Teme (特米)𝕏|🇫🇮🇨🇳@RODENT950
I can safely say that Huawei is safe this year from new sanctions. So everything remaining normal plans 3 flagship models coming normally this year. #HuaweiP60 #HuaweiMateX3 #HuaweiMate60
English

@DaggettBrent @RODENT950 Europe and the United States purchased a large amount of Russian oil and gas through India. The US plundered a large number of European enterprises to set up factories in the United States through the Russian-Uzbekistan War. American military enterprises have made a lot of money.
English

@KhanPuking @RODENT950 China is a great nation and the world's best trading nation butChina is quietly supporting Russia a nation that has decided to invade a nation of45million people in UkraineAnd it's a genocide too!Has China delivered any humanitarian aid to Ukraine?NO!China helping Russia?YES!.
English

@DaggettBrent @RODENT950 Please don't learn from western media to spread rumors about China. The Red Cross Society of China donated a lot of materials to Ukrainian refugees, including tents, blankets, food and baby diapers. But the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine said, "We want weapons, not blankets."

That might be the end of #Piepmatz, but I hope not. No further information available at the moment. I'll evaluate the next steps as soon as I know more. #Twitter #SailfishOS
