@woodfromawoods @Principal_EL I think that’s great. I’ve been “staying for the kids” for 22 years and dedicated my life to working with kids and families in poverty. What’s more important than color is simply being there with routines and procedures that provide consistency for ALL children AND teachers.

I believe that education can change lives… I believe all kids should see black men in education (as of this date, only 2% of educators are black men)… I believe I can make a difference… so #IChooseToStay @Principal_EL 👌🏽♦️ #jointhemovement #educators #blackeducators

@WestsidehsTeach I have two because my BLACKNESS is extremely important to me. When working in predominantly white international environments, I have had to answer the question “why do I post so much black stuff?” 😳 Because I am BLACK and I love my culture!!

Over these last 3 years, I’ve come to accept that no matter how much I love teaching, the system will never love me back. I’ve known this for a while but a part of me used to believe that the system would one day come through for me tenfold & reward my commitment to my students.

@gautiersue Similar. I am no longer in the classroom. Now I write assessments and curriculum as an independent contractor. I got to keep all the parts that I loved and escaped the parts that I didn’t.

I have worked year round nearly my whole career: writing, creating problems & lessons, organizing, planning, etc .. I do take vacations, but I really enjoy the creative parts of curriculum creation (& curation). It isn't a just a chore for me. 🤓 #iteachmath #mtbos How about you?
