Today is my birthday. A few years ago, I spent it at one of my dearest friend’s funeral’s. I could spend hours telling you about why KD was special, and what she meant to me. But the most important thing she left me, is a quote I heard from her after she died..

This is Najee. He wanted to throw a block party. This was his first event he facilitated with Paterson Healing Collective. He had the whole block out sweeping and cleaning it up for the kids that came to enjoy our activities later. Last month he was killed by police.

A 9 year-old girl lost her life trying to pull the fire alarm to warn other students in a mass shooting. Yet, a congressmen from her state the very next day said ‘there’s nothing you can do’ and basically said that’s why he home schools his kids. The 9 year old had more bravery.

There are lots of “parent and me” activities and classes, and that’s wonderful. But now that my mother in law has Alzheimer’s, I’m really wishing there was more “caretaker and me” classes.

Yes, there are already some cool programs out there, and by all means boost them to me if you know some great ones. I just want more. More options, more affordability, more accessibility.
