@bira_CEO hi Andrew. I have a story to tell. I was unfairly dismissed from my 30yr career with a national retailer after I was robbed in store. All I did was let the store next door know and they dismissed me.

@KatyBourne all I did was after the event I went to let the store next door know what had happened. As an ambassador in the community. It has timed my life upside down and the retailer I worked for used it to get me out.

@KatyBourne hi Katy - great to hear your views on shoplifting and the effect it has on people’s lives and retailers. I was a Store Manager for a national retailer for 30yrs and after we were robbed of spirits in February. In May I was unfairly dismissed. After a long process.

@utd109 Good way to manage this league. When you buy players chance you sell them.

Ruben Sellés (@ruben_selles) arrives at Sheffield United not just with a résumé spanning some of Europe’s most diverse football environments, but with a clear, identity-driven philosophy shaped by years of high-performance education and top-level experience. After a season of emotional, tactical and leadership challenge at Reading, Sellés takes over at Bramall Lane with a belief in dynamic, high-intensity football rooted in human connection, clear principles and a readiness to adapt when necessary. At the heart of Sellés’ footballing vision is an uncompromising intensity. Defensively, his teams press high and aggressively. “We press to score goals,” is his mantra. He believes in defending far from his own goal and demands dynamic off-the-ball work from all players. In possession, he favours rapid vertical play — reaching the final third quickly, either through direct combinations or a more structured, build-up approach depending on the situation. He wants his teams to thrive in what he calls “organised chaos”. His experience as a performance specialist informs how he builds his teams. Sellés holds a master’s degree in high-performance sport and a UEFA Pro Licence, studying under Paco Seirul·lo — the architect of FC Barcelona’s methodology. That education, he says, set a standard for everything he’s done since. He’s worked in Spain, Russia, Azerbaijan, Norway, and Denmark before joining Ralph Hasenhüttl’s Southampton as assistant, then briefly taking over as interim head coach in the Premier League. That spell included impressive results against elite opposition: Southampton remained unbeaten under his leadership against Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Liverpool. Sellés is not a tactical ideologue. At Reading, he started the 2023–24 season trying to impose the 4-2-2-2 structure he used at Southampton, pressing high and playing at intensity. But the realities of League One — direct opponents, fast transitions, and squad limitations — forced adaptation. With a high defensive line often exposed by quick balls into the channels, he adjusted. The switch to a 4-3-3 allowed his side to press more compactly, dominate second balls, and regain shape more easily. Tactical flexibility, though, was only part of his impact. Sellés’ most impressive work came in his ability to build culture and trust under immense off-field pressure. Reading were hit with multiple points deductions and financial instability, including unpaid wages and HMRC disputes that prevented player registrations. The squad was threadbare, full of academy players and short of senior experience. But Sellés didn’t hide from the crisis. He embraced the club as his own, communicating clearly with his players, shielding them from the worst uncertainty, and fostering a spirit of resilience. He knew when to push and when to pull back. After each points deduction, his staff gave players space: light training, small-sided games, and a focus on mental reset. The results were remarkable — Reading won every league game following a deduction. The squad played with a sense of shared purpose, and the supporters responded. Nearly 20,000 turned up for the final home game. Sellés had helped rebuild a fractured bond between club and fans. More than a tactician or a motivator, Sellés is a coach who believes football is emotional, human, and expressive. He wants his teams to play with energy, identity and belief. He speaks of the importance of players feeling that they can beat anyone — and at Southampton, they did. He talks of the fire that drives him every day, even when the challenges are overwhelming. And he believes that when style, culture and club identity align, the results follow.

@The_Bladesman Has he lost the dressing room? When you lose to Millwall Oxford and Plymouth you don’t deserve to go up or be involved. Expensive squad but so poor recently, losing mentality will just lead to the season falling apart.
