More rambling on the Witch Hat Atelier UNESCO interview. I want to add another opinion of mine: Fair is fair - I think that the creator of Witch Hat Atelier is the person who got short-changed the most in this entire situation. I have seen a lot of people attempting to throw shade at her because she was in this interview. To me it is very apparent that the UN interviewers are the ones who are asking leading questions or out of touch questions, often towards pushing a perception they want to craft on the Manga/Anime Industry. The WHA creator's responses to what was asked of her in the interview, make strong indicator at least to me that she views herself as a mangaka first and foremost... And that one response she made bringing up "women in manga" was due to being asked VERY leading questions and was directly prompted by the UNESCO Interviewer. When she answered other questions in the interview that were more open, I can see quite evidently that she views the mangaka occupation as individuals expressing their individual creativity, and NOT as some monolithic "institution" that UNESCO Interviewers is trying to imply that it is. She made it clear that her approach to her storytelling is something that she herself desires to do and it works for her. She made it very clear that every mangaka are their own creative director, and no one should force them to restrict themselves or be forced to "manufacture" a specific content they do not want to. I have seen no evidence that indicates to me something more than what is presented on the topic of Shirahama. She is just a person who got asked a bunch of questions, and she answered them. If anything, her only "mistake" is not being aware of UN's hate of Anime/Manga, which is not something I will hold against her. She stays in her lane imo, and she should not have to. All in all, UN and UNESCO deserve all the scrutiny, skepticism and criticism for their two-faced behaviour, their leading questions and knowing absolutely nothing about the industry they are critiquing. NOT Witch Hat Atelier's creator.

Really sucks how bad the press is for witch hat atelier. I’m anime only but 3 episodes deep and it hasn’t given me any red flags. It’s a magical fantasy series about a girl trying to save her mom due to a forbidden spell going wrong. It’s basic but it’s been enjoyable.
