@korir_raphael @Kenyans Correct its not free money the investors will in most infrastructure projects request a stand by letter of credit from Treasury.

@Kenyans This sounds ambitious, but leveraging $3B ten times is not free money, it amplifies risk just as much as it does returns. If projects underperform, taxpayers could be left carrying a massive financial burden.

Our target is to have $3 billion in there. If you leverage that 10 times in one cycle, you can finance roughly $30 billion worth of infrastructure - David Ndii on the National Infrastructure Fund

Iran is coming out of this far stronger. With Chinese weapons, Russian intelligence, control over the Straits of Hormuz, leverage over the Gulf States and assets unfrozen by the United States. A complete strategic disaster.

US intelligence indicates that China is preparing to provide Iran with air defense systems in a matter of weeks, CNN reported. Beijing is expected to ship shoulder-fired, surface-to-air missiles known as Man-Portable Air Defense Systems. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

@mabrukix ideal capacity goes to bills and higher electricity costs chase away investors that's why Energy Planning is an entire department in Kenya Power. I like your idealism but in the real-world demand must be tracked to keep the sector sustainable

@KiproMw Economic activity is energy transformed. Build the power plants, there will be a corresponding increase in economic activity. I am not a follower of the stupid delusion that you build according to or to catch up with existing demand.

JKIA deal structure: Total cost for phase 1: $ 1.2 Billion Equity component: 40 B KES ( 15 B from NIF, 25 B from Kenyan pension funds) Debt: About 100 B KES This is how we scale infrastructure investment going forward. A mere 15 B from GoK unlocks 1 billion dollars of capital.

@mabrukix Housing is requesting a supplementary of 25b to support The program. The Guarantee offtake part will be active in most of the large social housing projects where buyer pay monthly for 20years. No contractor is taking that risk so a lot of cash is needed to offtake

@KiproMw No the affordable housing has sufficient funds to sustain the development pipeline. AHP fund is not meant to fund construction, it only gurantees offtake, bulk infra and mortgage underwriting. For this purposes, 100 B is enough. Developers build with their own cash.

@SylviaKangara Indeed, but we need to scale up the program we are at about 10k Units delivered currently, second term big ticket contracts should just be handed to China builders to do AHP 10-15k Phased Schemes. Current model will top out at around 200k Delivered in 10 years.

This life… We can talk all day long about landlords breaching their legal duties to vulnerable tenants. Instead of providing habitable housing in exchange for rent, they provide death traps. Year in, year out, a never ending problem because said landlords can play games better than anyone else. The President’s Affordable Housing Program begins to solve this historical, systemic, failure for the most vulnerable Kenyans. Masaa ni ya kusolve stubborn problems. ❤️🇰🇪🙏🏽
