Dr Norman Kiogora highlighted ongoing efforts, in partnership with Huawei, AT4D, UNESCO and Qhala, including the 2024 AI Hackathon, to develop and scale innovative, inclusive solutions. He also emphasized KISE’s commitment to locally designing and producing assistive devices using AI and digital technologies ensuring solutions are accessible, affordable and tailored to real needs. Invited partners included representatives from Huawei, AT4D, UNESCO, Qhala, the Signvrse team and Ministry of ICT. Through collaboration with Huawei, alongside partners such as AT4D, UNESCO, and Qhala, we are supporting initiatives including the 2024 AI Hackathon, which brought together young innovators to create technology solutions for persons with disabilities.

Our discussion focused on strengthening collaboration between KISE and the State Department for Children Services, particularly in enhancing assessment, capacity building, and access to specialized interventions for children with disabilities across the country.

I paid a courtesy call to the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Gender,Culture ,the Arts and Heritage Her Excellency Hanna Cheptumo where we held a productive engagement on advancing inclusive services for children with special needs.

It was an honour to deliver remarks at the Stakeholders’ Engagement Forum by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) held on 20th April 2026 here at Kenya Institute of Special Education.

I engaged with students from United States International University–Africa (USIU-Africa) during their benchmarking visit to the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE).

Under the theme “Autism and Humanity – Every Life Has Value,” we are reminded that autism is a human experience that calls for compassion, acceptance, and deliberate action. We must move beyond awareness and work together to end stigma .

Today, I had the honour of serving as the Guest of Honour at the commemoration of World Autism Awareness Day at the Kenya Navy Base, Mtongwe, hosted by the Military Wives Association of Kenya.

The forum continues to reaffirm our shared commitment to advancing education at the grassroots level, with a strong emphasis on inclusive education. We remain dedicated to listening and learning in order to inform policies that will shape the future of education in Kenya.

Honored to have been among the stakeholders at the Elimu Mashinani Forum in Makueni County, alongside Amb. Prof. Julius Bitok, PS Basic Education, and Dr. Beatrice Inyangala, PS Higher Education.
