The lie behind claiming “AI content was only used for placeholder assets” is that any experienced dev knows it’s bad practice to use placeholders that are not obvious.
you need the greybox or checkered texture so it stands out & you know at a glance that it needs replacing.

We would like to address questions regarding the use of AI in Crimson Desert. During development, some 2D visual props were created as part of early-stage iteration using experimental AI generative tools. These assets helped us rapidly explore tone and atmosphere in the earlier phases of production. However, our intention has always been for any such assets to be replaced, following final work and review by our art and development teams, with work that aligned with our quality standards and creative direction. Following reports from our community, we have identified that some of these assets were unintentionally included in the final release. This is not in line with our internal standards, and we take full responsibility for it. We also acknowledge that we should have clearly disclosed our use of AI. While these tools were primarily used during early production, with the expectation that these assets would be replaced prior to release, we recognize that this does not excuse the lack of transparency. We sincerely apologize for these oversights. We are currently conducting a comprehensive audit of all in-game assets and are taking steps to replace any affected content. Updated assets will be rolled out in upcoming patches. In parallel, we are reviewing and strengthening our internal processes to ensure greater transparency and consistency in how we communicate with players moving forward.

Confirmed GenAI use that was undisclosed to Steam and now they're apologizing claiming it's a simple "Oversight" that somehow sat in their game for YEARS and made into a huge launch.
Then somehow overlooked it when putting it on Steam, where they would have been asked about AI use.
Pearl Abyss lied to platforms to get it on the market, Crimson Desert is riddled with GenAI assets that stole from real artists.
Supporting this kind of behavior from a company will destroy gaming, leaving us with a mediocre hellscape of boring, uninteresting trash like every AI video out there, everything will become shit mobile ads.
Say no to this trash, get refunds and spend that money on indies who are actually doing things right.

I don't think viewers realize but streamers love when you let us know something doesn't work properly on our streams. Whether that the audio of the game we play isn't loud enough, the screen is completely black or our mic is muted for whatever reason and forgot to turn it back on.
We really appreciate it when you help us with scuff, even if we don't show it sometimes!

Self-help culture loves telling people to "change their mindset" because it's a lot safer than questioning the system that's making them miserable.
