I am writing a speech to give at a school careers day and I want to give the advice 'don't be an a-hole' - is there a school-friendly word that carries all the meaning of a-hole but that won't make the headteacher frown at me? These are teenagers but I probably shouldn't swear.

@KittyVine @FelicityHannah @neilhimself There's a 2nd point too. Say you do a job for money, but like to paint. You start selling paintings and quit your job. From here on in you HAVE to paint. And not just paint in volume, but paint what sells, which may well not be what you want to paint, ruining your pleasure in it.
