@pushcx We include the users IP in hex form as the username. We have no control over the hostname though - that’s purely the networks configuration out of our hands.

We've rolled out some huge performance improvements and monitoring how it goes over the next few days. In some cases a 75% improvement, meaning your computer fans stay quieter while using Kiwi 🤞

Some networks may experience some downtime right now as we tackle an ongoing ddos attack against some of our servers. We are working with our server hosts to get back up and running ASAP.

As we start this last month of the last year of the decade, I’m still waiting for the epiphany about why Slack is so much better than email or IRC (or even Lotus Notes c. ~1995)

We’ve been upgrading our servers today with a few stumbles along the way, but going forward we’ve added much more capacity to handle your users and transparently apply server updates in future. Let us know if you notice any issues!

@smokebikes We have to migrate away from it at some point - it gets expensive and time consuming to maintain :( Is the new client missing anything you need?

We’re starting to redirect older Kiwi links to the new Kiwi IRC client. kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc…. Currently only links that are not embedded into websites will be redirected!

It seems that our IRC servers don't like the large influx of web IRC clients from @KiwiIRC. We'll get that sorted in the next couple days hopefully. In the meantime, try a regular IRC client :)
