As someone who has chosen not to have kids, I nonetheless recognize that as a high risk strategy as far as having a sense of purpose across an entire lifetime goes. I think having a family is the wisest default life choice. Where I think @jordanbpeterson goes too far is to dismiss the data out of hand if the study was run by people without kids. Studies run by people with kids is just as likely to be shaped by confirmation bias. I’m interviewing @friedberg today, and he has an interesting take on this that I hope we get to. Here’s the best advice I’ve received on having kids: Have kids, don’t have kids. Fine. But whatever you do, do it all the way.
