@AFCHereWeGo I remember going into work the next morning not knowing the score and people telling me that they won. Refused to believe it until I got the morning paper and read about it

@LukeEdwardsTele Fully agree except the Nick Pope in goal bit. Ramsdale has been fine and has made some excellent saves (double save v Palace for example) Tbh neither keeper is the long term answer

Eddie Howe has got us playing like Steve Bruce was in charge except with much better players. Cant say anything much worse than that tbh #NUFC #HOWEOUT

@tfalex1892 He has basically wrote off nearly all the good work from the past 3 seasons and sent the club backwards and now to a place where they were after he kept us up. Reset is inevitable and it has to be with a new manager in charge

We look like the worst team in the league at the minute. Comfortably. Minimal pressure on opposition goal keepers game after game. There should not be no consequences for that.

@LukeEdwardsTele He deserves to stay? I'm sorry but in today's football world you cannot afford to just write off a season. Maybe 30 years ago but not now.

Newcastle’s season is over and all that is left is to search through the wreckage for survivors. The manager will take the blame but I hope he survives. He deserve to but there were several players out there today who should hang their heads in shame. Some are cowards, some aren’t good enough and others clearly don’t want to be there anymore #nufc

Time is up for Eddie. Cant afford to write off a season like we have done. Basically set the club back to where we were after he kept us up. That being said all the players wanting to leave for Champions League need to look at themselves cos fuck me they have been awful #NUFC

Having said that about Elanga, Harvey Barnes has put in one of the worst 90min performances that I have seen in nearly 40 years #NEWBOU #NUFC

Always liked Elanga and hoped he would come good but that 60min was one of the worst showings from a Newcastle player that I have seen in nearly 40 years. #NEWBOU #NUFC

Utterly woeful 1st half performance from Newcastle. So slow in and out of possession. The players are clearly not playing for the manager. As for the manager. This has to be his last game if it ends in defeat #NEWBOU #NUFC #EddieOUT

@LukeEdwardsTele All true but he did spend loads of money on players who have so far failed. Other clubs were in worse situations and have prospered. His mismanagement in games, his baffling team selections and the fact that the performances all season have been shocking suggests his time is up

For those asking why I back Howe. Two champions league qualifications in four years having inherited a team destined for relegation. Won the club’s first domestic trophy for 70 years despite the club’s failure to sign a player to improve the first team since Tonali in 2023 because of PSR. Forced to sell Anderson and Minteh for PSR. Was left last summer without a sporting director and a CEO. lost isak on deadline day - the team’s top goalscorer and most important player - and missed out on Trafford, Ekitike, Pedro and Sesko as they went elsewhere for money and to club’s with more aura in London and Manchester. Yeah he’s made mistakes, but if you look at everything he has achieved I’d back him over anyone else to lead the rebuild as a manager with a proper recruitment structure in place #nufc
Luke Edwards@LukeEdwardsTele

Eddie Howe remains the best manager for Newcastle United and deserves the chance to rebuild the squad in the summer with a proper support structure in place. If he leaves in the summer, I believe the club will regret it. Probably swiftly and for a long time. This is my opinion. I have covered the club for 23 years. I watch them pretty much every week and nothing that happens between now and the end of May will change my mind. It’s fine to disagree. I’ve seen a few comments about where I’m from recently and the fact I’m not a fan. Like that prevents me from having an opinion on a club it is my job to cover and has been for more than two decades. This is my professional opinion as a football journalist. Lots of you will disagree with it. But I also know many of you agree with me because I speak to people all the time and don’t spend my entire day on here. Opinions vary, that’s absolutely fine #nufc

@LukeEdwardsTele 30yrs ago you could write off a season but not now. Having the 7th highest wage bill to be sitting where we are is not acceptable. The summer window was awful but Brentford got decimated and look where they are. Mismanagement in games is not budget or transfer related either.

@CraigHope_DM Love Eddie to bits but he has to go. Up to the board whether a new man can get 4 wins to scrape Europe but one thing is clear Eddie won't do it.

A league high 25 points lost from winning positions for NUFC now this season. They are soft. Gone is the nastiness & smarts to defend a lead. For Brian Brobbey last time out, see Jean-Philippe Mateta this time. They can be bullied. Mentality minnows.

No excuses for Eddie and his press pals. He has to go. 14th in the league isnt a bad spell. Its a year of disgraceful results and mismanagement. Cant even beat an under strength Palace side. #NUFC

@LukeEdwardsTele I love Eddie but it seems he can only get us Europe which is the minimum acceptable level when we aren't in Europe and that is not sustainable. 7th/8th and looking up is par 12th is not acceptable. And thats b4 you take into account performances and the mismanagement in games.

@TheFamousReds Players do deserve the backing. Its that megalomaniac Cormack that in all honesty deserves relegation. Might be the only thing that wises him up to realise his time is up. He had his glory moment a year ago

@henrywinter @NeilSimmy8 @PitchPublishing All these Rangers fans going on about a tackle as if none of their players ever did anything like stamp on an Aberdeens player throat in a cup final for instance...... Will definitely by the book. Simmie is a legend.

Really looking forward to reading this from @NeilSimmy8. The football story is obviously very strong, facing Gullit and Platini. Aberdeen, Gothenburg glory, trophies, that challenge on Durrant, but also the personal journey and finding his father after 60 years. @PitchPublishing
