Brendan Rodgers nearly won the league then Liverpool sold Luis Suarez and replaced him with Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert. Sturridge missed 44 games through injuries, and that deadly SAS partnership that made us so dangerous was gone overnight. Rodgers was set up to fail. Arne Slot won the league and then got backed with £450m. Isak, Wirtz, Ekitike and more. He was set up to succeed and failed miserably. That’s the difference.

At this moment, it would truly be negligence to keep Arne Slot into next season. He could go on and challenge for titles, but majority of fans have made up their opinion and nothing will change. One loss or poor performance and it’s going to be super toxic all over again.

Genuinely glad. Think any manager willing to entertain that job knowing how much they chop and change is only interested in one thing. When we change manager, we should be throwing a blank cheque at 2 names only and testing the waters.

I personally think Xabi Alonso should’ve waited but it is what it is.

@ATLiverpool_ Based on what? Maresca qualified for CL and was comfortable in his job until he started criticising the owners in public.Xabi will be there for a long time, they’ll get CL easy next season and he has the money and tools to challenge if he is top manager.

Let's compare the two, very briefly; Alonso - Bundesliga with Leverkusen, 20 point drop off following title, Real Madrid job, loses dressing room & sacked within 6 months. Slot - Premier League title, 20 point drop off following title, still here. Despite what people may think, their football is quite similar, control possession based football. So the risk? Liverpool feel they have the right guy already, and sacking him for Alonso is no guarantee - despite certain accounts musings. The club clearly understand the absolute mountain of mitigating factors that have caused the performances this season. Slot isn't without blame in certain instances. But when you haven't got the players to fix the problem, or they're constantly injured or in & out of the squad, the blame can't really fall at his door absolutely. So the risk is that its not the slam dunk people think it is to sign Alonso, and the club feel they have the right man but didn't supply him with the correct tools this year - hence the summer outlay being just as important this year.

@L4fckop We’ve only got in fourth because the teams competing for it have collapsed, if they’d had have decent form we wouldn’t have even finished 5th.

This is masssive low for the Liverpool fanbase for a manager who’s won the league and currently has us in *checks notes* FOURTH.
