We’re kicking off AANS weekend where it matters most—in the community. 🧠✨ Join ASBN for Ignite the Brain at Martin Luther King Jr. Academy for Arts Integration—an initiative designed to expose, educate, and inspire the next generation of future neurosurgeons. In partnership with Think First , who will be onsite providing and distributing helmets, and with the generous support of our sponsor @Stryker_ST , this experience is rooted in education, access, and real impact. We’d like to extend a sincere thank you to Stryker for their sponsorship and commitment to advancing community health and safety. 📍 May 1 | 1:00–2:30 PM CT 🔗 Volunteer sign-up available Because representation starts with exposure. If there was one article you want to read as a clinician? Read this Via @jenna_taglienti - an absolutely stunning write in @JAMA_current "Medicine can have extraordinary meaning. But it cannot substitute for being present in your own life. The world may need us as physicians. But the people who love us need us as ourselves. And that is the role no one else can fill." Brilliant - and much love to you 'Time is Finite" jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/…

ASBN is proud to celebrate every single one of our matched students. 🎉Congratulations to Emamoke Odafe "Stephen" on matching into Neurological Surgery at LSU Health Shreveport! Emamoke — who also goes by Stephen — is a Uniformed Services University graduate who brings a rare and powerful combination to the field: military service and a passion for tumor neurosurgery. His journey from Lagos, Nigeria to serving in the U.S. military to matching into neurosurgery is a testament to extraordinary discipline and dedication. ASBN is proud to stand behind future neurosurgeons like Emamoke, who carry excellence into every room they enter. Join us in congratulating Emamoke Odafe "Stephen" — a soldier, a scholar, and soon, a neurosurgeon. 🧠Become part of a community that celebrates journeys like his at amsobns.org. @Odafe_Emamoke #Match2026 #ASBNOrg #BlackExcellence #Neurosurgery #ASBNConnects

Today, we honor more than one moment — we honor a legacy. 🧠✨ On National Doctors’ Day, at the close of Women’s History Month, and during Match season, we are reminded that excellence is built across generations. Featuring our Women’s History Month spotlight, Dr. Holly Gilmer, whose journey in neurosurgery was shaped by mentorship from trailblazer Dr. Alexis Cladey — the first Black woman neurosurgeon. This is what representation looks like. This is what mentorship makes possible. This is what legacy feels like. As the next generation prepares to step into this field, we celebrate those who paved the way — and those continuing to carry it forward. 🖤 #NationalDoctorsDay #WomensHistoryMonth #Match2026 #ASBNOrg #Neurosurgery

Today we take a moment to honor the legacy of nearly 500,000 Marines who served during the Vietnam War. When Marines landed in Vietnam in 1965, their courage was tested in some of the most storied battles and operations in Marine Corps history—including Operation Starlite, Operation Hastings, Khe Sanh, Hue City, and Operation Dewey Canyon. Their service in the jungles and cities of Vietnam would help reshape the Marine Corps’ approach to warfighting and cement their contributions to the Corps’ history. --- Original Caption: A Marine from Company G, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, runs for cover as NVA soldiers open up with a .50-caliber machine gun during Operation Hastings.
