OTD in 1980: EB launched the second Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine, USS Michigan (SSBN 727).
Operating out of Bangor as SSGN 727 since 2007, over 4 & 1/2 decades of service and still going!

You forgot to add that you get 10 seconds of cold water, 5 seconds of hot water, then you shiver with NO water while you lather up, then another 10 seconds of lukewarm water to rinse off.

Submarine secrets revealed- This small chamber was designed to develop submariners' sea legs. The subject stands naked in the center, inches away from sub-zero walls, trying to stay in the center under warm water, while the whole thing rocks & rolls in all directions.

They would then drive to the delta pier for reunion
I was single during this, but I know how important it was to the married guys
