NATO’s response was quick, decisive, and I'd say very Cold War. The RAF and the RoNAF P-8A Poseidons teamed up with Type 23 frigates like HMS St Albans to blanket-bomb the GIUK Gap with sonobuoys. The goal was to disrupt Russian ops and to send a simple message: "We see you!" Once exposed, the Russians broke contact and slipped back north. With all that's happening around the globe, it’s wild to think that the Atlantic is just as hot today as it was at the height of the Cold War. 2/2
